Manchester United little hopes of at least finishing top-four finish this season was ended last weekend in shambolic manner as they surrendered their early 1-0 le ad to already relegated Huddersfield to end in 1-1 draw which pave way for the club stuck at the bottom of the premier league table with merger 14 points in 36 games to come from a goal down to claim a wholly unexpected 15th points that cast aspersions on Ola Solskjaer dream of making to UEFA elite competition next season a mere wish.

Every sports fans understands quite well Huddersfield’s limitations are clear for to the blind considering they won only three games and got relegated in March but they kept their head up above the ground in search of a result while their United counterpart looked unconcern and less motivated to play for anything and looked like team waiting to jet off for their summer holidays.

The most memorable moment for Hundersfield is not that they got relegated but was able to take four points from the most decorated teams in English football. Recall that the same side won Manchester United in the first leg of the fixtures and now got a point away from home.

This was evident as the Hundersfield players were beaming in smiles at the end of the final 90 minutes but the same cannot be said of the Manchester Untied boys and their head coach who were probably hiding their heads in shame in front of the camera as Solskjær’s and his boys hope of staying close to contention for the top four race to the final match of the season but this result following Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Watford at Stamford Bridge put a Champions League spot out of reach their reach.

United will have themselves to blame for the poor performance in the second half that got Hundersfield back into the game in the second half as Juan Mata, Sanchez and Paul Pogba was very wasteful in front of goals in the their impressive first half but a big mistake by keeper David de Gea following weeks of similar errors allowed McTominay slow shot from a crowded area bypass him. The amazing part was this was a ball flying at low pace every keeper could have kept out but David de Gea allowed the ball pass through effortlessly.

De Gea himself retained his spot on the post following heavy criticism from Unites fans after series of abysmal display but the head who before this game had cleared the air the his number keeper will feature in the game. Many fans saw this a irritating but they were once again proven correct in their lack of confidence in the keeper who has been their best player almost four seasons now.

There is no doubt that the one time famous English club have seen itself in the Europa or funny enough Thursday night football in four season in the last six years when their were the team to beat and this s well have seen their revenue dwindles which as prompted their sponsors to slash their deal for not featuring in the UEFA elite competition.

If Ola Solskjaer will stay in Old Strafford next season is subject of debate because I pity him most as a young coach who happen to find himself in a big club may be asking himself questions about his ability but issue is that the teams needs a total overhaul with recruitment as well disposing of some players who feed on big wage bill weekly with nothing to offer. With this, the teams in few years time will bounce back to take their place in the EPL.
