Lionel Andrea Messi Cuccitini was borne is a small city of Rosario then in Argentina in the year 1987. Leo as his folks often prefer calling started playing football at a tender age of five back in his home country Argentina. As a kid, Messi was very talented in the game but was later diagnose with GHD at the age of 11. Many local treatment where adopted but they were no sign of successful ‘’Every night I had to stick a needle into my legs, night after night and every days of the week, and this over a period of three years’’ Messi was quoted as saying in an interview in 2014. He thought why he seems to be different from other kids of his age bracket as he was growing up. The young Argentine needed to be ferried abroad to find a cure to remedy the condition. His father who happened to work in steel company and a mother who was a cleaner couldn't were helpless because the cost of treating the deficiency was very high that Leo had to seek for external help for their innocent child after Messi's childhood club River plate turned down any offer to treat him. The angle that could answer Jorsi Messi; Leo's parents call was a club in Spain named Barcelona who discovered the greatness in him and offered not only to sign him as a child in5o their academic programme but take care of all the medical bill to that effect.
One may ask what is GHD? Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is a medical condition where the gland responsible for secretion of a hormone produces below the required level. Located at the base of the skull is pituitary gland that is involved in growth hormone secretion and eight other hormones as well . This condition is mostly common in children and rare in adults. If left untreated the deficiency result to stunted growth or dwarfism and probably weaker bones at adulthood especially those of the thigh. Though the treatment does not work for all children diagnosed of it and the cause debatable, however the earlier is discovered, the better for the child.
Today, that kid that as the smallest when in the pitch or at school has turn out to the wonders of the round lather game of football. Not only is Messi compare with legends who have graced the game, he remains one of the best in modern generation is witnessing. Leo has virtually won every trophy at club level as well individual accolades; five times world best player (Ballon d’Or), he went home with FIFA Golden Ball in 2014 World cup where he led his national side to a semi final round, he has an Olympic medal and broke a 40 years record ofb84 goals in a league season set by Muller. A record that will stand for decades to come.
One on the reason many fans have argued is that why has Messi refused to leave Barcelona for another club so that his talent can be well tested like the likes his rival by comparism who has plied his trade in most European leagues among which is Portugal, England, Spain and Italy.
But what most of these fans failed to see is that underlining gratefulness Leo is to the Spanish giant team. At least he is one of the highest earn football athlete in the world and what more does he need. What makes me love his is not basically about his talent but his life still. In a world were people love to intimidate others (forgive my bias), Messi who earn about $667,000 a week life a very quiet private life and resist all exhibition of luxury.
"We must learn to see that life's trials are nothing but passing circumstances and that something can be done to overcome them." Kevin Johnson,
This quote by Kevin Johnson l leave with anybody who is passing through the storm of life, this is an assurance and a testimony that challenges are just there to strengthen is we persist a little more.
