When the news filtered in during the January transfer windows that Chelsea had picked interest in getting Gonzalo Higuain from his parent club Juventus where Maurizio Sarri had known him while at Napoli, many Chelsea fans received the news with happiness on the ground that he was better than Morata who has gone to Atletico Madrid to find his confidence back.
Higuain came to Chelsea with a lot of responsibility to carry and leading the attack and l guess as a professional he knew what was as stake.
When the fixture for the big 4 teams or rather the top 6 teams was reviewed last December to January, Chelsea was predicted to have the easiest fixtures on paper and were expected to get maximum points but at the end of the day, Chelsea went on a poor run of fixtures losing matches against Wolves, Arsenal, Bournemouth while on the other way round Manchester United was galloping at full spend to the top four and Liverpool not given any room for excuses on the lead. All thanks to Arsenal inconsistency, if not, Chelsea would have found themselves in a position to beg for top four finish
Yesterday games was one of those matches l watched with a bottle of bear and bush meat pepper soup with my friends happily why talking about Sarri philosophy and ability to read the game for some time now. It has always being “let me go and see if this boys are going to change anything’ but it was a different ball game entirely.
Eden Hazard for sometime now has not being pulling those fantastic dribbles and fine runs which l guess must have stem from the inefficiency of Chelsea front line. I saw a Hazard of yester-years confidently running around with the ball and many thanks to his two goals that crown his efforts. First was front a penalty spot some argued was a foul outside the eighteen yard box and the second was a fine finish having beaten the keeper with body movement. The man of the match was full of smiles and his teams effort in getting the needed result.
Higuain showed class as a top striker in his game by registering his name on the scorers sheet with two wonderful strikes apical of a top 9. The first was the opening goal that came at the … minute when Kante's pass got on Higuain’s boot in the eighteen yard box which he wasted no time by powering a fine shot to beat the keeper at the first bar. His celebrating says it all, he had expressed optimism that he would score in that match and he did just quite that. The second goal was world class as he scored at the edge of the eighteen yard box from Kante's touch.
David Luiz had to score the last goal to make it 5:0 following what looks like a deflected goal. This game was a test game for the players to show if there were in for the manager and no doubt there clarified him of that.
Watching the game closing, one will noticed that there are few changes or rather transformation the teams is taking since the grafting in of Higuain as well as among the players. First was from Jorginho and Kovacic who had improved in their physicality but most importantly their ability to shoot at goal when the opportunity presents itself. For the first time, Jorginho could power a shot at the keeper without it goal wide even though that his shot was blocked. It showed his readiness to improve his game. Same shooting ability was shown by Kovacic when he came in as a substitute. Even though his shot too went wide, this has shown he has lost his fear to making attempt on goals.
With all this skill coming into play by the individual players, l have no doubt that the team has woken up from their slumber and there are going to be a lot of goals in Chelsea matches as the season progresses. With Manchester City victory last night against Arsenal, l believe will Sarri will like to hold grip of that position till the end o the season. However, will have to convince us next weekend that top four finish on his list with the big match.
