This year Africa cup of nation hosting ancient country of Egypt is the biggest of all times as the participating teams were increased by the Confederation of Africa football (CAF) to 24 teams which opened the window for other smaller or rather weaker countries to have a feel of the tournament as have that sense of inclusiveness. The tournament got to a magnificent opening start with different types artistic fireworks unlike in previous occasion where the tournament want during the day, the AFCON 2019 was at 21:00 pm G.M.T. Another thing worth of note is that it is the first time that the tournament will be held in a summer (June/July rather than the traditional January/Fabruary. The Night was a good background for the fireworks

It was a mammoth turn out at the 75,000 seating capacity at the Cairo International Stadium which has a eye catching giant pyramid on the football pitch which was followed a beautiful dancer which formed shape of Pharaoh’s face. Count you imagine that pictorial representation of king Pharaoh’s of the ancient times and it ended with a lot of fireworks which has different interpretation.

The only goal came from Egyptian midfielder Mahmoud Trezeguet which was a curled low short finish inside the eighteen yard box after beaten defender. This was the only moment of the game that worth remembering as the slow pace of the match in the overall made it boring.

The opening match no discredit to the both the hosting and Zimbabwe failed to leave upto the expectations of the fans that came out for the game as the Pharaoh’s of Egypt dominated the game from the very second the referee’s blew the whistle to the end but the most worrisome was the Egyptian not to pressuring Zimbabwe. Were they playing to entertain the fans?. These are some question many people are asking. Unlike the Africa style of football which is full of physical show of power, strength and muscle, the games was not like the tiki taka of Barcelona.

Well, kudos to the Zimbabwe team for the effort they put into curtail the excesses of the Egyptian side that had afar superior quality in their team and their performance will give theme hope for a place in the second round.
