The social media yesterday went agog when Chelsea football club of English announced the team manager for the 2019/2020 league season. It was no other person than the much speculated Derby County coach Frank Lampard who returned to a club where he won everything as a player and became of of the legends. Not only is he the clubs all time goal scorer with 211 goals but the English young manager is love by many during his 13 years stay at the club.

Chelsea board decided to end the speculation on who replaces Maurizion Sarri who led the club to Europa finals but left for Italian job. Frank was handed a three years contract at Stamford Bridge that will see him stay at the club till the summer of 2022.

Definitely, many have argued in some quarters that Lampard is not yet experienced to manage a big club site like Chelsea but rather be given more time to develop before returning to the club. But with the transfer ban imposed on the club by football governing body for bridge of financial fair play rules, it seems that not many top coaches are willing to pick up the offer because of their inability to sign players.

''Everybody knows my love for this club and the history we shared. however my sole focus is on the job in my hand and preparing for the season ahead'' he said in his acceptance speech

Lampard who made made about 648 appearance for the club will have to work with the young players from Chelsea academic which is one of the factors he was considered for the job going by his record in Derby county.

The big question in many peoples lips is ''Will Lampard deliver?''

Nobody can answer this question with certainty at the moments. We have seen coaches achieving targets like Zidane is Real Madrid and failed like wise like David Moyes of Manchester United when given the big responsibility at coaching stage. Lampard goal will not be to compete with the likes of Pep Guardiola and Klopp for the premier league title but to give them a good performance that will keep the club within the Champions League spot next season.

How Lampard will fare with this responsibility is left for next season to tell.
