At the end the much talked about game between the two greatest EPL rival Liverpool and Manchester united has been won and lost. Liverpool has proven that they mean business this season by clinching to their unbeaten record in the league to 17 matches and there is still a long way to go as we enter the Christmas busy fixtures and probably the second half of the season later on. How much they will bear the pressure at the top of the log and maintain their record is what we all will watch out for.
The defeat Manchester United suffered in the hands Liverpool at Anfield is by no means a surprise to anybody that follows the English premier league very well. Jose Mourinho has not been enjoying his stay at United this season with so much pressure on him now to come up with a solution to Manchester United problem but the major issue steering Jose at the face is still the ‘’old Mourinho’’ who always have fall out with his players. Many would have thought that Jose must have learnt a lesson from his past but it seems he is much embedded to his ego like never before.
Three years ago, the big hammer was wielded Jose by Chelsea owner and questions were asked if Mourinho will turn a new leave. Jose ceases every opportunity to massage his ego by reminding anybody that cares about his CV. He did it against, Juventus and probably will tell Manchester United how he won three trophies for them since Ferguson era.
Sacking Mourinho before he sees his contract out in 2020 will cost Manchester united a big cheque and he has boosted of that some time ago when he was asked in front of the camera what he think of his sacking. Jose replied wall filled with ego when he asked the journalist if he knew what Manchester United stood to lose in cash. I think this will be a major factor Jose will continue to enjoy his stay at United as the board may find it difficult to bring in a coach at the mid of the season.
All the stake holders of Manchester United as well as their legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson all watched the team play against Liverpool with no form of threat and I believe this was not the type of team they long to have to maintain that past glory. Jose had on much occasion blamed the board for not backing him in the transfer windows and shouldn’t be blamed for the team woes.
From the start of the whistle, Manchester united looked vulnerable, confused and un-organised with Liverpool having 5-0 corner kicks within 15 minutes and 7 attempts. The statistic looks like Liverpool played against a lower division side; imaging 36 attempts on goals against 7. This is embarrassing considering he had £89m player on the bench
How United fare with the special one in coming weeks will still be issue of debate but not doing anything at all by the board will cost them watch Jose lead Manchester United to an abysmal 2018/2019 season as usual with his third season syndrome.
