Checking Keeper's Excesses
keepers in game of football is the child or rather the most player the referee must pay great attention to in ensuring he is in no way harmed when a ball is contested. In fact, there are 90% ratio that a ball contested with the keeper will not go in your favour accept it was a pure keeper blunder. With all these privileges given to the keeper within his eighteen yard box, many of them have abuse these privileges to the extent of forming the most important player. May be there are no too many keepers in a team bench or so.
When penalty are awarded to a team, it is expected that the opposing player take up the ball, place it at the spot and kick it but the cases where keeper go unto touch the ball after it has been placed has been observed others to the extent of moving to and from the post touching it may be for luck or intimidate the player while other have left the goal like coming out to catch a penalty. Many referees have disallowed such outside touch line dive others have kept a blank eyes to it. I can vividly remember those days in the high school when a kept a little before going forward that a keeper coming out of the line has an advantage of covering more space, make himself looks bigger than when on the line thereby limiting the shooting space of the penalty taker.
In other to curtail these behaviors, the new rules states that a keeper must not touch the goal post when a penalty is about to be taken and such keeper must at least have one foot on the goal line. Hahahaha....then what will he do with the other leg? Is left for such keeper to decide.
Manufacture Restart
Another issue is players not given each other space when a manufactured restart is given. Most times this altitude of players trying to block the ball or slow down the pace of the opposing teams has gotten some players card or violet reaction. But in case of manufactured restart: a case where play is stopped when a player is down or something happened. It is expected that the team with the ball will have to restart with the ball and we have observed that in most cases opposite players don't give space for such pass. the new rules now state that the opposing player must stay at least 4m way from the point of restart except cases when the ball was stopped in the eighteen yard box, the keeper will have the ball for goal kick no matter which side have the ball advantage.
New Rules
1) VAR shall be enforcement next season
2) If a goal accidentally hit player’s hand in a build up to a goal, such goal will be disallowed and in such case, a free kick would be award outside the penalty box.
3) Players will have to leave the pitch at the nearest exit point than walk across the pitch to their stand point.
4) Referees now have the power to show managers yellow or red cards as their judgement leads when a coach misbehaved at the touch line like it is given to every other players on the field.
5) Keepers are not forbidden from touching the goal post when penalty kicks are to be taken as well must have one of their foot touching the goal line.
6) Ball must be given to team that lost the ball for manufacture restate in their advantage except at the penalty post where it is easier to give it to the keeper and players of the opposing teams must stay 4m away from the ball.
