We are into the fifth week of the English Premier League and I suppose most of you have already finalized your favorites for this year. Some are probably like me too who like to support only one team in its ups and downs and that's exactly what I do when I support my forever favorite Arsenal. Let's take a look at the teams which are shaping up as the real contenders for the title this year.

Contender No. 1

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has been the real change that has made us believe that Liverpool has the firepower to change the history. Liverpool won their last title in 1990 and since then it has been 28 years of struggle and misfortune. Over this period Liverpool has been able to rebuild their team which is exactly why I think that Jurgen Klopp can give them the trophy this time. Liverpool has struggled around teams like Manchester City and Chelsea but they could very well change that with some interesting picks in the recent transfer window. I see them as the best contender for the title this year with the kind of start they have had. If they continue to grab some important wins against the big teams it will surely make their journey to the title easier. Let's wait and watch to see if Klopp can deliver this one.

Contender No. 2

Manchester City

The current champion, Manchester City is without a doubt one of the best teams in the premier league right now. Manchester City has started off well with four wins and draw to their name but it seems to me that they are yet again hungry for that top spot one more time. Manchester City had a famous win last season, a team which outperformed every other team on cards and on the field. If they continue that run it will be next to impossible to stop them from the title this time too. Manchester City plays with a very stable and unique squad and that is the reason why it can really get tough for other teams to make that much-needed breakthrough. Manchester City has been very consistent over the seasons now and they are used to playing in big matches and finals.

Contender No. 3

Chelsea

If there is any team in the Premier League which can come up with surprise victories over the best teams in the league, it has to be Chelsea. I don't think most of us expected them to be at the top of the table in the fifth week with very fewer changes to the squad and the axing of the previous manager but they have done incredibly well to retain the top spot so far. Chelsea will be tested this season under their new manager Maurizio Sarri. Maurizio Sarri coached Napoli before his recent contract with Chelsea and is known for his aggressive style of coaching which has given him an opportunity to make an impact in the Premier League as well. I think Chelsea has the capability to surprise us this time, I have been following their games this season and I really see that the attacking nature of the team coming across well.

Contender No. 4

Manchester United

To consider Manchester United as the real contender for the title has been tough for me but I still think that the season has just started for them. We all know that Mourinho has been a slow starter and has a great vision to see things happen for the club. United has made some interesting additions to compete as a serious challenger for the title. Jose Mourinho may not have been the best for United so far but we very well know about his capabilities and his previous track records. Manchester United has a strong mid-field and all they need to do is get together and make their chances fruitful. With only three wins and two losses so far they would like to improve their performances so that they give this title the best they have.

Contender No. 5

Watford

If you have seen them play this season you won't be surprised to see them on the list. Watford won the first four games of this season and almost made it difficult for Manchester United in the last game yesterday. Tom Deeney and Gray have been in the best form as much as I have seen them. If De Gea couldn't save United yesterday we may have had a different result to look at today. Watford may not be represented by some big players around the globe but their performance on the field speaks for them in itself. It is true that I may not have considered them as the real threat to other teams in the previous years but if you ask me the same question this year, I won't hesitate to answer with the name of this team. I want to see them do good against some good teams so that we have a new team in the top names of the league.

Do let me know what you think about the possible contenders of the title this year. Your responses are appreciated. Thank you and have a nice day.
