Evkur Yeni Malatyaspor deserved to win the home match against champions Galatasaray 2-0. The lions had little to offer the hosts after the Champions League appearance during the week.

Record champions Galatasaray are currently stuck with bad luck. Not only did Fatih Terim's side lose another away game in Malatya, but Younes Belhanda had to be substituted for the next player injured in the first round of the Yellow Reds. Particularly bitter: Defender Mariano, who was offensive on the right today due to the acute shortage of personnel, is missing in the derby against Fenerbahce next week yellow-locked. With a 2-0 win over the Turkish champions, the home side ended the dry spell with three games without victory. The lions, on the other hand, will lose their third away defeat to local rivals Basaksehir.

Strongly weakened, the tired looking eleven of the record champion disappointed especially in the first run. The team of coach Erol Bulut was wide awake from the beginning and had the better chances to score until the break whistle. After a beautiful combination, Mitchell Donald (35th) scored his second goal of the season to take the deserved lead for Malatyaspor. Galatasaray could not pull the lever after the deficit and had the best chance in the first round with Ahmet Calik, who had been substituted for the injured Belhanda.

After the break tea an open exchange of blows developed in the Yeni Malatya Stadium. Both teams had some good opportunities, but they all missed them. The unlucky youngster, Ozan Kabak, was the last to be punished for his foul play on Malatya captain Adem Büyük with a penalty shot. The foul played himself and decided the game after a little more than an hour of play (66th). The tooth of the weakened lion was pulled early. Until the final whistle it remained with the timid efforts for the 1:2 connecting goal.
