Defending champions Galatasaray had to make do with a 1-1 draw against Atiker Konyaspor at the start of the Süper Lig's 13th matchday.

Galatasaray and Atiker Konyaspor separated on the 13th matchday of the Spor Toto Süper Lig with a 1:1. Due to the draw in the Türk Telekom stadium, the Turkish champion improved to 24 points and is still in second place in the table. Konya now has 18 points and is currently ranked eighth. Aykut Kocaman scored an important away point during his coach comeback at Konyaspor.

Galatasaray had the game almost completely under control in the first half, despite weakened Kaders. The visitors from Konya shifted primarily to the defensive and tried to stand well behind. Although the hosts had more shares in the game, they lacked decisive accents in the offensive. But Konyaspor was the more dangerous team in front of the opponent's goal. Only Adis Jahovic missed three top-class chances. First in the one against one against GS-Keeper Fernando Muslera shortly before the half-time break (41.). In the second run, the Macedonian (51st) shot the ball over the goal in a promising situation before hitting only the post in the 60th minute. Shortly afterwards, team-mate Ugur Demirok (69) mistakenly pushed a cross from Mariano Filho into his own goal and thus involuntarily put Galatasaray 1-0 ahead.

In the remaining minutes, Konyaspor threw everything forward until Serdar Aziz (88th) hit the ball clearly in the penalty area and then Nejc Skubic. Referee Hüseyin Göcek decided on penalties and drew the red card for Aziz, who had thrown the ball in the direction of the referees in order to vent his anger about the decision. Without the involvement of the Video Assistant (VAR), which caused a lot of criticism, Göcek stayed with the penalty kick decision. Skubic (90th) converted the penalty shot to 1:1, which was also the final score. Next week Galatasaray will play the derby against Besiktas at Vodafone Park, while Konyaspor will receive Aytemiz Alanyaspor.
