Turkish players in European leagues, today with the Turkish legionnaires in Germany, Austria, France, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Especially in focus: Mehmet Zeki Celik (21) from LOSC Lille.

Serdar Gürler (SD Huesca): At the beginning of the season, Gürler switched from relegated Osmanlispor to Primera Division promoted SD Huesca. Since then, the 27-year-old has been playing regularly for the northern Spanish side, but he is still far from being a top performer. Gürler has not scored in seven matches so far and currently has about 35 minutes of play per match. However, a permanent pitch is in sight.

Semih Kaya (Sparta Prague): Kaya got off to a good start in the season and was in the starting eleven for the first eleven games. Slowly but surely finds his way back to his former strength. With nine goals to concede after 13 games, Prague has the second best defence in the HET League. This is also due to the 27-year-old. It remains to be seen whether it will be enough for the Turkish national team once again. Grade: 2 Ömer Toprak

Ömer Toprak (Borussia Dortmund): Missed the complete start of the season with a persistent muscle fibre tear, therefore no evaluation possible.

Nuri Sahin (Werder Bremen): Changed at the beginning of September to the re-strengthened Bremern to start a new season. The 30-year-old model professional also succeeded in this. After a short settling-in period, Sahin first got stuck in the initial formation in a very strong team. Could become in the long run still much more important for the team.

Kaan Ayhan (Fortuna Düsseldorf): The 23-year-old has found his way well in the Bundesliga and has so far played eight of the nine season games over the full distance. However, it will be a very difficult year for the newcomer. The last five defeats were in a row, with the 1:7 defeat in Frankfurt as the low point. Ayhan still has to improve in order to prove his first league suitability.

Kenan Karaman (Fortuna Düsseldorf.): Doesn't play a role in the promotion after his move to Düsseldorf. Only 36 minutes in the Bundesliga (one goal).

Aytac Sulu (SV Darmstadt 98): The now 32-year-old is still the captain of the "Lilien" and has played in all matches over the full 90 minutes. Absolutely undisputed defensive chief in Darmstadt, even if things could be better from a sporting point of view.

Berkay Özcan (VfB Stuttgart): Currently without a chance to play in Stuttgart. So far there have only been two short bets over five minutes.

Yunus Malli (VfL Wolfsburg): Malli is currently no more than a supplementary player for the "wolves". Comes to one goal and one assist in seven games, but only two games from the beginning. Plays well below his performance level.

Enver Cenk Sahin (FC St. Pauli): The euphoria surrounding the 24-year-old has flattened out. Sahin is on the verge of losing out with his performances, having managed to run up four times right from the start. However, the ex-Basaksehir player is not in danger of scoring any goals. Must make this year absolutely the next development step, if he does not want to disappear in the sinking.

Volkan Akyildiz (Austria Klagenfurt): The 23-year-old striker was borrowed from SCR Altach to Klagenfurt. In the second league, Akyildiz is finally on regular appearances, but so far still crowned by little success (eleven games, one assistant).

Dogan Erdogan (LASK Linz): After Erdogan completely failed last season with a pubic bone injury, the 22-year-old is slowly approaching again. After twelve match days, however, it only takes 100 minutes of play. Not in the squad at last.

Mert Müldür (Rapid Wien): The Turkey debutant is one of the season's discoveries and has already played 14 competitive games this year, including the Europa League. The 22-year-old has great development potential and could soon end up with a larger club in Europe. Debuted last under Lucescu against Bosnia (0:0).

Evren Korkmaz (VVV-Venlo): The 21-year-old central defender currently plays no role in the Dutch first division team. Still without a mission this year.

Mehmet Zeki Celik (LOSC Lille): Who would have thought that Celik would be able to assert himself after switching from Istanbulspor to Ligue 1? The 21-year-old right-back has been an undisputed regular since the start of the season and has played every single game for Lille so far. The Turk regularly receives top marks from the French press and has been in the Ligue 1 eleven several times a week.
