Ever present in the Arsenal line up these days is their captain Alexandre Lacazette. However his contract expires this summer and he has not agreed on a renewal,meaning he can leave for free at the end of this season and right now he is free to start negation with clubs on a pre-contract. Obviously there is therefore some clubs swirling around for the former Lyon star.

One big name is our focus today and it is Spanish giants Barcelona. Four things;

1) He is a cheap option for Barca in these times they are still recovering from the financial crunch that hit them last season.

2) He is quite an experienced campaigner.

3) He is very close friends with former Arsenal captain and now Barca star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

4) Him and the aforementioned star like to play together. Dembele is also close friends with the pair.

Well previously it was reported that Lacazette's hardwork and team play has moved the club to offer him a one-year contract.

However,a new report has something contrary. Sport states that the Frenchman is a target of Barcelona. It would be interesting to see how this unfolds. He no longer has the goal scoring numbers he had at Lyon(the club he made his name before coming to the Gunners), but he offers graft and intelligent link up play. Could Barca bring the goals out of him again? I think he is a decent squad player to have at least.

By the way Aubameyang has made a terrific start to life at Barca, scoring nine times in 11 games.

Others on Barca’s shortlist are Mohamed Salah , Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland. All of whom for varying reasons, from finances to timing,are highly unlikely to come to Barca.

As for Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has not promised anything publicly. The statement he released on Lacazette says that the club has agreed to sit down with the player after this important season ends, by which time the club knows what direction they "are going".

We await as things develop.

Cheers
