French giants Paris-Saint-Germain have left six-time Balon d’Or winner Lionel Messi out of their Champions League squad for Wednesday game.

The Mauricio Pochettino-led side would be coming up against German side RB Leipzig in a group stage second round of fixtures. However, viewers of the game would not have the luxury of seeing the well-decorated Argentine strut his stuff for the French side.

Lionel Messi's time with PSG

The six-time Balon d’Or winner has not enjoyed the best of times ever since his move to Paris-Saint-Germain.

His omission from the matchday squad against Leipzig tells the who story. Messi has so far failed to hit the heights at PSG. More to that, injuries have not been his very good friend as well.

PSG press explains the details of Messi's current injury

Messi's omission from the PSG matchday squad was courtesy of a knock he received during PSG's last Ligue 1 game.

From recent medical discoveries, the Argentine has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury to his left leg, as such he would most probably be out for at least 10 days.

To portray the gravity of the injury, Lionel Messi was taken off during PSG's game against Lille without voluntarily offering to be taken off. When asked why it was done, manager Pochettino maintained that it was for the benefit of the whole team.

Conclusion

The absence of Lionel Messi would no doubt be a big miss to the PSG side, as his presence alone serves as a major fear factor to other teams.

PSG can only hope they would have him back sooner, as they hope to claim the Ligue 1 title which was lost last season.
