Due to the contraction of the Covid-19 by a few Tottenham players and staff members, they requested a postponement of their conference league tie against the French side Rennes.
However, the English side’s offer to play the tie today was rejected by UEFA. As they insisted Tottenham can now forfeit playing in the Europa Conference League.
A decision wish would see the French side Rennes go through and Tottenham gets eliminated from the competition.

Bearing in mind how desperately UEFA was to see the game against Rennes played, Tottenham executives offered a solution.
They expressed a desire to have the tie played just 24hrs after their game against Liverpool. A decision that would have stretched the Tottenham players to their breaking point.
Rennes reject Tottenham offer
After the offer to have the game played today was made by Tottenham, inquires were sent to Rennes about their potential agreement.
Nonetheless, the French side was having none of that. They insisted they would not be willing to take such a risk on their players who had a league game on Saturday.
Conclusion
The refusal by Rennes has seen Tottenham pay the price which is seeing them being kicked out of the European competition.
Antonio Conte's men have now exited a major competition against their wish. They would now have to compete in the other tournaments left at their disposal.
