The Real Madrid medical team has verified that French forward Karim Benzema has tested positive for Covid-19.

Benzema had represented the French national team in the just concluded Euro competition.

Nonetheless, on his return to the squad, medical tests revealed that the forward had contracted the virus.

Karim Benzema's time with France

The forward had an average outing with the French national team, after their surprising round of 16 elimination.

France qualified from a group that was tagged the group of death, before the beginning of the competition. A group which had Portugal and Germany.

Nonetheless, after making it past the group, the French team met a resilient Switzerland side and we’re eventually eliminated on penalties.

Benzema's return to the Spanish capital

The forward made his return to the Spanish capital on Thursday. He made his return, alongside a man with so much news around his name, Raphael Varane.

However, the discovery of his Covid-19 contraction would mean that Benzema would be absent for a majority part of Real Madrid's pre-season.

In line with the test results, Karim Benzema is expected to be out for an additional two weeks as he isolates himself.

The next fixture in line for Real Madrid

As part of their pre-season preparations, the Carlo Ancelotti-decide is expected to tackle Scottish side Rangers FC.

The Rangers team is quite a solid one as they are led by Ex-English legend Steven Gerrard. In line with that, they would provide a strong test for Real Madrid.

Conclusion

The Carlo Ancelotti-led side is expected to improve on their last season's performance.

Los Blancos finished 2nd behind Atletico Madrid last season. Nonetheless, with some improvements in defense and midfield, the team would be looking at retaining the second spot or improving on it.

Without any reasonable doubt, Benzema is expected to be back firing on all cylinders and give his team a much-needed goal-scoring lift.
