A handful of English Premier stars, have succeeded in making the list of Europe’s golden boy award.

The likes of Mason Greenwood, Callum Hudson Odoi, as well as Billy Gilmour, are reportedly top in the ranks.

However, doubts stand over the possibility of Premier League stars clinching the award, ahead of Dortmund’s duo Jadon Sancho and Erling Braut Haaland.

Highlights of the 100-man golden boy award list

The list was announced on Monday, although it would witness further whittling down in the coming months. The winner would be announced later this year.

A look at youngsters tipped for the award

Making the list and tipped for the award, are Borrussia Dortmund duo Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho.

On his part, Haaland came into Europe’s limelight, with with RB Salzburg. Some scintillating performances and a fine goal-scoring form, made him their number one man.

Together, both himself and Jadon Sancho have succeeded in tearing defenses in Europe apart.

Asides Dortmund's duo, Chelsea young midfielder Gilmour and Winger Odoi also makes the list.

Others in the list include Bayern left-back Alphonso Davies, Barcelona’s Ansu Fati and Real Madrid wingers Vinicius JR and Rodrygo Goes.

Last years winner Athletico’s Joao Felix fails to make the list. With fingers being pointed at his Managers style of play.

Still on the list, Rennes wonder-kid and Los Blancos’ target Edaordo Camavinga also makes the list, after an awesome 2019/2020 season.

History of the Golden-Boy Award

The golden-boy award, was officially introduced, in the year 2003 by an Italian publication.

Young English forward Wayne Rooney clinched the award in 2004. Argentine forward and arguably the Greatest-of-all-time Lionel Messi made the award his, in 2005.
