Barcelona legend Gerard Pique has made his earnings public on social media. This proved to be the case after it was understood that reports presented him as the top-earner at Barcelona.

The rumours did not go down well with the Spaniard, and he decided to make his earnings public.

Details of the initial statement

The initial report had it that the Spaniard was taking home a whopping 14 million euros a year on his current deal. While appearing to the public as sympathising with the cash-strapped Barcelona board.

A statement with clearing annoyed the Spaniard. In response, Pique took to Twitter and posted his half-year earnings. The details proved to be very strange.

It revealed that the defender only took home a fortune of 2.3 million euros. Not even up to 20% of the initial report.

Pique's statement

As a caption, Gerard Pique pointed out that a good number of these media statements were made by people who favour some sort of brands or individuals.

Moving on, he urged them to have a little bit of shame while publishing such lies about people. Rounding up his statement, Pique said “This is my salary for half the year”.

Conclusion

Pique was indeed furious by the initial statements published, and rightfully so. Little wonder he reacted in such a manner.
