Juventus have now completed the signing of Ajax central back de Ligt on a fee around €75 million($84m) after the player sign a 5 years contract. This happened after the player and the club have agreed personal terms last week and with that, de Ligt will now earn €12m per season.
The salary was divided thus; €8m as basic salary and €4m as match bonuses. There was speculation surrounding the player transfer even before the transfer window open as different top clubs across Europe all show interest in bringing the central back to their club, clubs such as Paris Saint-German, Manchester United, and Barcelona but the player has now decide to continue his football career under the services of M. Sarri who was recently appointed as Juventus manager.
Juventus last season saw their hope of winning the UEFA champions League as a nightmare after securing the services of the 5 times world best player Cristiano Ronaldo and the club have started strengthening their squad ahead of the new season all in the name of clinching the UEFA Champions League.
Despite the club dominating the italian serie A, the last time they won the UEFA Champions League was 95/96 season.
De Ligt arrived in Turin on Tuesday and have his medical on Wednesday ahead of the signing, and that makes he the 7th signing the club has made since the transfer window has opened after securing the services of Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Gianluigi Buffon on a free transfer. The also purchased Merih Demiral from Sassuolo, Cristian Romero from Genoa and Pellegrini from Roma
Last season, the player made a total of 55 appearances for Ajax scoring 7 goals and he also helped the team to the semi final of the UEFA Champions League and has been identified as one of the most highly sought after defender across Europe.
