Watford seems to know how to play Cardiff very well because they also lost to Watford 3-2 back in December 2018, Watford visitation wasn't a good one for Cardiff as the visitors thrashed them in front of their fans 5 goals to 1 goal and also destroyed Cardiff hope of escaping the relegation zone. The match between the two teams came up on Friday in the Welsh capital just to avoid a clash between Wales and England Nations game.
It was a day to remember for the Spanish and former Everton man Deulofeu as he stole the show with his sensational and impressive display which earn him a hat-trick for the Hornets and put his name in the club record list as he became the first player to score a hat-trick for the club in the topflight and also became the third player to score a hat-trick in the premier league on Friday after Windass and Thierry Henry in year 2000 and 2004 respectively. Deulofeu has now involved himself in 5 goals and 2 assist for Watford against Cardiff, he scored 1 goal and set up 1 goal in their first leg 3-2 win at home back in December and he also scored three good goals in the 5-1 Cardiff shocked at home.
Deulofeu put the visitors ahead in the 18 minutes of the game after taking advantage of of an error in the Cardiff defense and it was the only goal that separated the two teams in the first half of the game as both teams continues to create a lot of chances but they couldn't find the back of the net before the half time again but the second half produced 5 goals from both teams, 4 goals to Watford and 1 goal to Cardiff in the second half.
Deulofeu doubled the lead in the 61 minutes after another blunder from Manga that allows him to race away with the ball through a counter attack and he competed his hat-trick 3 minutes after scoring his second goal in another mistake through Harry Arter that allow him to chip the ball pass Etheridge in the 63 minutes.
The 24 year old former Everton and Barcelona man was too hot to handle for the Bluebirds as he went on to produce another assist for Deeney in 73 minutes before Bamba pull one back for the host in 82 minutes but Deeney was there to restore the margin back to four goals lead in the late minutes after scoring from Hughes cross-out in the last minutes. Cardiff suffered a lot in the game due to bad defense because three of the five goals scored came as a result of errors in the defense line.
Cardiff still remains in the relegation zone occupying the 17th position while Watford moved to 7th position and hoping for a spot in the Europa League with a fine form in the league and in the FA cup after qualifying for the quarter final. Cardiff this season has conceded 28 goal in the league and that is the highest in the league so far.
Going by stat, Cardiff has more shot than Watford in the game with 15-12 shots but where one of their problem lies is their convention rate because out of the 15 shots, they had only 6 shots on target and scoring just 1 of it while on the other hand with Watford, had 7 shots on target and scoring 5 of it.
The result now show that Cardiff boss has failed to win or draw his last four home matches against Watford and has conceded 16 goals in all the matches while Deulofeu join the club of Windass and Henry to become the third player to score a hat-trick on Friday .
