Dortmund in their last 5 matches have dropped 9 points which is really bad for the team and with the way the league is going now, it look like they are now sleeping and they may not be able to win the league at the end of the season because Bayern Munich which is currently on the second position with 51 points with 23 matches played will be visit Borussia Monchengladbach and a win for Bayern Munich will bring them level with Dortmund on 54 points. Dortmund is on 54 points with 24 matches been played, they had scored 58 goals and had conceded 27 goals while Bayern Munich had 51 goals and had also conceded 26 goals.
Dortmund played their week 24 match in the Bundesliga league away to Augsburg which is currently on 15 position in the league with 18 points and it was a shocking result for the team as they lost 2-1 at SGL Arena and the result now take Augsburg to 21 points in the league. It was Ji Dong-won a former player of B.Dortmund that put their title hope in doubt as he strike twice in both half of the encounter. Ji Dong-won left Dortmund in 2004 after failing to established himself at the club I'm the first half of the season.
Dortmund continue to dominate the match with possessions and creating lot of chances but they couldn't put the ball past Gregor Kobel who made a lot of good saves for the home team. Dortmund had two good chances through Marco Reus and Manuel Akanji but was not enough to stop relegation fighting Augsburg. Marco Reus who was just returning from injury had a shot blocked by Gregor Kobel while he also denied Manuel Akanji header.
The former Dortmund striker Ji Dong-won break the york in 24 minutes of the game when he received a pass from Andre Hahn to put the home team ahead in the game. Dortmund coach Favre brought on Paco Alcacer and Raphael Guerreiro to turn the game around for the visiting team but it was Augsburg who strike again through Ji Dong-won after shipping the ball past Roman Buerki to make it 2-0 lead for the home team.
Alcacer who first saw his shot denied by Kobel put 1 goal back in 81 minutes of the game from Mario Goetze pass and Dortmund look like they are going to equalize before Kobel denied Mario Goetze in the late minute of the encounter.
Dortmund form now in the league is really bad and it is even affecting their performance in the champions league as they lost their first leg in the round of 16 to Tottenham Hotspur 2-0. Their last five matches in the league is nothing to write about with their current form (DDDWL) while Bayern Munich has only lost 1 of their last 5 matches and if proper care is not taking, Bayern Munich may just turn the league around and be crown champion at the end of the season.
Despite the fact that most of the match was played in Augsburg half, Dortmund failed to make use if their chances and they were really punished for it
