One of the biggest match during the international break is the EURO 2020 qualifier match between Germany and Netherland which ended in favour of Netherland. Although the two side are very strong but majority before the game will still give it to Germany with the way they had formed in the recent past but the prey turned out to be the predator as Netherland thrashed them 4-2 in front of their own fans at Hamburg stadium.
Germany has always be the team to beat since they found their stand with a three man back line and the last time ant team will be scoring them with such margin happens to be in 2012 when they shared the point with Sweden in a 4-4 scoreline. The team first defeated Netherland in March 3-2 and was looking to repeat that result but there has always be a problem of inconsistency in the team since there poor run in the 2018 Russia World cup.
Low really got his tactics wrong and Netherland made him pay for it has they finally ended the 100% run in the EURO 2020 qualifier matches. Despite Germany scoring first in the game through Gnabry, Netherland team were so organised and dominated most of the minutes with 51% -49% on ball possession. The German team were so relax waiting to punish the Dutch team on a counter attack and that eventually game the Dutch an upper hand in the midfield with Georginio Wijnaldum, Frenkie de Jong and Marten de Roon all out playing them in the midfield.
It may be too early to say the best team won the game but the Netherland tactics was more of Ajax tactics last season and with the likes of De Ligt, Van Dijk at the heart of the defense for the Dutch really makes it hard for Germany to break through, this we can justify through both teams attempt on goal. Germany were able to manage 12 shots compared with 16 shots from the Netherland team and out of the 12 shots from Germany, only 5 was on target while the Dutch team manage 9 on target in the game.
Germany took the lead in just 9 minutes of the game through Gnabry and could have done well in the first half to kill the game but were not too clinical in front of goal instead it was Netherland who was running over them in the attack through Depay outstanding performance but both teams failed to change the scoreline before the first 45 minutes and it was 1-0 in favour of the German in the first half. Netherland got it right in the second half when de Jong cancelled out the lead in the 59 minutes and the own goal from Jonathan gave the Dutch team the lead in the 66 minutes.
The game witness lots of goal rush as Germany made it 2-2 through Kroos from the spot in the 73 minutes and it looks like the game is going to be a draw game before Malen who made his debut after coming him for de Roon in the 53 minutes made it 3-2 from Wijnaldum through ball before the Liverpool man sealed the 3 points for the Dutch team in the additional minutes of the full time. The problem continues for the German side while the Netherland team look promising with their impressive display in the game.
Word Of Encouragement For Germany Team
I will be encouraging the team with a word from Martha Graham which goes thus;
Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance. Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.
The team need to get up and make things right and probably show to the world again the stuff they are made of, they have shown it in the recent past but nobody cares about that anymore because there is no any future in the past.
