Chelsea begins their champions league campaign yesterday at home by hosting Valencia in their first group stage matches which later resulted in a disappointing result for the Londoners but aside from that, the club also suffered another injury to their standing list as Mount was substituted in the early minutes of the first half after a poor challenge from former Arsenal player Coquelin. Mount now remains a major doubt for the Blues home game this weekend against league leader Liverpool and it is a big blow for the club.

Mount so far this season has been so spectacular in the central attacking midfield for the Blues by scoring 3 goals in 5 league matches which has also make some of the club fans believes they have finally found a successor for Frank Lampard who is now the manager of the club in the number 8 with Ross Barkley being considered as a second option in that role has well. Mount who has played under the new manager at derby last season on loan seems to have understand the philosophy of the manager over time and that is really working for him in that role. He had 11 goals to his name in 44 appearances for derby last season and with they way he has started his game this season looks like he is going to surpass that tally but that now depends on how fast he manage to come back i to the game.

According to the result of the test carried out this morning on the player, the result shows the injury is not as deadly as many people think, it was shown by the result that the young midfielder did not suffer any damage to his ligament in his right ankle but despite that, it remains a doubt against Liverpool has he has already started a rehabilitation at the club training ground Cobham and will and will still undergo series of scan before the week runs out.

Mount was substituted for Pedro in just 16 minutes of the game and it was too bad for his debut in the champions league competition, probably he would have rescue the club from that defeat with his goal or prove something different with his appearance on the pitch. He has became the fans favourite and has established himself in the team by taking responsibilities in terms of corner kicks and some free kicks.

Many believes Coquelin should have gotten a red card for the tackle on the 20 years of midfielder because it was really a awful tackle from the Valencia man. Chelsea dominated moat of the game despite missing there key man in the CAM but went down to a shocking defeat with 1-0 at the bridge. They are now in the third position in the group with Ajax and Valencia on the first and second position respectively with 3 points. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard will now face another problem in the midfield when the team face Liverpool in the league with most of his key players not fully fit for the game.
