The champions leagues matches continues yesterday and there are lots of drama that actually took place and one of it was the game between Olympiakos and Tottenham Hotspur which ended in a 2-2 scoreline. Despite the fact that Tottenham were ahead with 2-0 lead, the team failed to hold their breath to the final minutes as the host came from a two goals down to level the scoreline which was really a disappointing results for Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino because he believes they couldn't win the match because his players didn't play according to his instruction and they were just lucky to have the lead.
According to the manager after the game says from the start of the match to the final minutes, his team were never the better side and after the first half, he didn't hide that from the players and expect them to be more focus in the defense. Despite dominating most of the game, Olympiakos had more shots in that game with 17 shots to 10 shots from Tottenham. Tottenham made it to the final last year but was not really in good form in the opening game which makes them to pay for it.
Harry kane opened the scoreline in the 26 minutes from the spot after Yassine Meriah fouled him inside the box and that look like a wake up goal for the team because they have not be too clinical upfront before the penalty and few minutes later Lucas Moura doubled the lead with an incredible finish into the top corner of the post. Olympiakos never allows the first half to go without a celebration as they also pull one back to make it 2-1. Podence brings the host hope alive in the 44 minutes with a sensational goal and that really means a lot to the fans as they continues to push for a draw through their support, the Spur were so unlucky to have Valbuena in that game yesterday as he continues to cause havoc in their half. Both Valbuena and Podence were just too good for them upfront but it was the Spur that took the lead before the half break.
The game begins in the second half and the atmosphere was so great for the host team as they continues to press forward for the equalizing goal, Eriksen in that game was not really in a good form has he lost the ball on 22 occasions with which of it resulted into the second goal for Olympiakos. Eriksen lost the ball to Valbuena and the player in an attempt to find his way pass Vertonghen was brought down inside the box which also gave the host team their own penalty and it was a well finish from the French man in the 54 minutes. Although Tottenham push forward to seal the game but their efforts upfront didn't yield any result. Olympiakos were so happy to have come back to level the scores and in an attempt to avoid a late minutes goal gave Tottenham an upper hand in the final minutes of the game but the host team forced the game to a draw.
Tottenham must now be careful in that group as they still have Bayern Munich and Red Star to battle with which means a point from Greece can be too dangerous for them in that group. With the first leg results now in the competition, both clubs that made it to the final round last season has failed to win their first game as Liverpool also lost at away to Napoli.
