History will never forget when Arsene Wenger team in 2004 conquered the league and earn the title invincible after going throughout the season without loosing a match, the team won 26 matches and draw 12 matches. Although, they are not the first to do so, Preston North was the first to so in 1888/1889 season, such a long time ago and I can really say the game of football was not that competitive then compared to when Arsenal did.

Invisible team

As far as the game of football is concern today, although nothing is impossible but it will be very hard for any team to repeat such a success not even Arsenal can repeat it this time, Manchester City would have repeated same thing last season before loosing to Chelsea 2-0 with another disappointing lost to Liverpool in January.

Let us quickly take a recap at how Arsene Wenger achieved this amazing football record that may stand for another century before any other team will finally break it if possible. Arsenal fans across the globe will never forget that year and despite not winning much trophy since then, the invincible team memory still lingered on.

Arsene Wenger used the 4-4-2 formation which at times can be refers to as 4-2-3-1 formation with the way Bergkamp operated as a supporting striker to Thierry Henry and as a number 10 in the team. Viera and Silva formed a good combination in the midfield with Peres and Ljungberg operating on the flank.

I personally looked at this team and there is nothing as special to the team but the way they formed a good chemistry and their consistency in every game makes them unique and steong. Wenger make use of 22 players but we can further reduces it to 20 because David Bentley and Hoyte only had one appearance respectively.

Goal Keeper

Lehmann was on goal for the team and played every matches in that season which really defines his consistency for the team, although many people still hold the assertion that the goalkeeper position is not really hard compared to every other position on the field but which ever way, the German man still deserve a lot of accolades.

Defender

Coming down to the defense line, Ashley Cole, Lauren, Sol Campbell, Kolo Toure all had a good season playing more games than other players in the defense options, in fact, Kolo Toure played more games than every other players in the defenseline with 36 appearances and only substituted once, followed by Sol Campbell who had 35 appearances, Ashley Cole had 32 and Lauren with 30 respectively

Midfielder

These department also play a major role to the success of the team. Gilberto Silva and Viera formed a good combination in the heart of the midfield which can be compared to the combination of Ngolo Kante and Drinkwater when Leicester city won the league. Both players made 29 appearance respectively but Silva was substituted 3 times, Pires and Ljungberg also lineup in the midfield but played more as a winger. Pires in that season scored a total number of 14 goals for the team.

Attacker

Arsene Wenger make use of two atrackers, Thierry Henry and Bergkamp but the latter play more in the the game as a number 10 while Henry was a killer in front of goal scoring 30 goals in 37 matches for the team that season and also earn the nickname Igwe meaning King followed by Pires who had just 14 goals.

One amazing fact to know in that season is that Arsenal won their first game 2-1 to Everton and also won the last game 2-1 to Leicester with both results coming from the Emirates Stadium. Manchester City who is now dominating the league finished in the 16 position in that season also.
