It is obviously clearly now that some players will find it really hard to make it into the Chelsea first team ahead of the new season despite the transfer ban lifted on the club, Chelsea pre season game under the new manager Frank Lampard has featured some young players who really impressed the new manager.

The switch from the 4-3-3 Sarriball formation to 4-2-3-1 formation seems to have change the look of the team midfielder as Jorginho and Kovacic made the two central midfield while Mount played as CAM against Barcelona in the absence of Ngolo Kante. The team now have more options in the midfield with the likes of Barkley, Drinkwater, Bakayoko and Loftus-cheek still on ground for selection.

During the Barcelona Game, Jorginho received a lot of praise from the fans with his impressive display and we all know what happened to the Italian man in the final part of last season where he was criticize on many occasions but it look like he has finally gain his confidence back under the new manager and may be instrumental in the midfield for Chelsea ahead of the new season.

Another midfielder that will also make it to the team is Ngolo Kante, in fact, I won't be surprise to see him alongside Jorginho in the midfield after returning back from a minor injury sustained in the pre season tour. Last season, the midfielder play a major role to the success of Maurizio Sarri where he was used as an attacking midfielder rather than the defensive midfielder everyone know him to be. Ngolo Kante is an utility player who can play in any position.

Ross Barkley is another option in the midfield for the team and many are still wondering while the new manager preferred to play Mount ahead of him in the CAM, if there are players I will love to see doing well for Chelsea next season, Ross Barkley is actually one of them because he always have his eyes on goal.

Loftus-cheek is another young player who has shown reason why he deserve to be in the starting line up last season before injury set him back and despite the fact that the team won the Europa league last season, I really missed him in the final because he could have registered a goal to his name in that encounter.

Players Who May Not Make The Team In The Midfield For Chelsea

Drinkwater

With the current situation on ground, this man may find it really hard to break into the bench not to talk of the starting line up. Drinkwater joined Chelsea from Leicester City but has failed to prove himself for the club and last season he was told by Sarri that he was not part of his plan and was to told he is free to leave the club but chooses to stay and watch much of the game on the bench. With the arrival of the new manager at the club, many thought it is time for Drinkwater to have some playing time but it seems the whole idea was wrong.

Bakayoko

Bakayoko joined Chelsea from Monaco and was instrumental in Monaco success in the French ligue 1 but also failed to establish himself in the club and after many blunders, he was sent out on loan to AC Milan last season. Although he later prove himself there when the club shown their interest to retain him. With the option in the midfield for the club now, I don't see Bakayoko making it into the first team.
