Christian Pulisic following the departure of Eden Hazard at Chelsea was tipped to replace the Club starman who left the club to joined Real Madrid, having signed for the club before the banned saction took effect had to spend the rest of the season with Borussia Dortmund. Many football fans believes the America Captain will be a better replacement for Hazard due to his style of play which is very similar to the Belgium man. Pulisic got some speed and is very sharp with the ball. Following the start of the season, he made his debut for the club in the week 1 game lost to Manchester United but prove different and also look promising in that game. Everyone despite the lost can see the Blues has gotten a man who will really fill the gap left by the club star player with the way linked up the midfield and provided some magnificent move down the flank.
No wonder he got himself an assist in the club third outing in the league against Norwich City in a 3-2 win for the Blues and another assist when the club played a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United but the awkward moment begins for him at the club when the club manager Frank Lampard suddenly switch to Willian in the line up and dropped him to the bench despite adapting well to his new environment.
After so many deliberation on why the manager had to continue to choose Willian over the America captain, he went on to say everyone deserve to be in the line up and just like Pulisic had started some matches for the club, he think also that other players need to play some of the matches and from his assertion, one can easily deduced that he was trying to rotate the team or probably he think there is need for an experienced player in the team in person of Willian while Pulisic still need to improve on his style of play.
The problem continues for Pulisic in the team selection following the arrival of the club young winger Hudson-Odoi from injury which is also doing well for the club since his arrival, providing more assists in the team and some impressive run in the opposition box while Willian on the other side has really stepped up in his play recently for the club with his powerful strike against Lille in the champions league and a goal against Brighton with another assist when the club thrashed Southampton in the week 8 by 4-1 which Pulisic also came on as a substitute and also had an assist to his name.
Watching the way Chelsea play recently now, personally i think it will really be hard for Pulisic to break into the starting eleven because against Newcastle in the club last game in the league, Hudson-Odoi gave the club what they have been missing since Hazard left the club, creating lots of problem in the opposition box until his effort yielded a goal that prove the point for the Blues when he gave the ball to Alonso to power in. Reason while i think Pulisic need resilience in the team is the fact that he also provides some balance for the team when he came on and was very unfortunate to get a goal in that game.
The club manager recently during one of his match conference ruled out a loan move for the America captain which shows he has some faith in him. The team is full of options in the attacking role and that makes it a little bit complicated for him to break in into the line up again with the likes of Willian, Mount and Hudson-Odoi all doing well in their role for the club. In fact, against Newcastle United, Hudson-Odoi seems to be the most dangerous player on the field while willian experience is all the club to come out flying in every game but all didn't work out against Newcastle until Pulisic came in and beating many players before passing the ball to Hudson-Odoi who finally set up Alonso for the goal. I think if he continue to show that in the next couple of game, he can finally break into the line up together with Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham up front which i can't wait to see.
