After going through some sports news today, i saw a captivating headline talking about whether Manchester United will make it to the top 4 this season and what came to my mind after going through the post is quite different from what the post is really talking about. Although the news was laying emphasis on the team chances of returning to the champions league next season and what i have in mind was when will the team return to rule the league again?
Manchester United remain the most successful club in England as far as the league competition is concern, although the club has witnessed some many competition from other clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and many other. Currently now in the league, they are not really up to the task of making the top 4 not to talk of winning the league at the end of the season with clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City giving every other clubs a run for their money.
These two clubs currently are way ahead of other clubs in the league talking about how they have blended together and has changed the view from top 4 which has always be between Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool to top 2 now because the two clubs are currently in good form while other clubs follows in the battle for the remaining two spot of 3rd and 4th position and it doesn't look like they are stepping down now.
Manchester United occupied the first position not only the team with the highest premier league trophy but the team with the highest number of trophy in England to really show how the have been ruling the league for many years before things fall apart for them. They have won the league on 20 occasions with the FA cups 12 times and the league cups on 5 different occasions with 3 European Cups, 1 UEFA Cup to mention few of the trophies the club had won and the club that seem to be following in the league is liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea occupying the 4th position.
Manchester City stated ruling the league not quite long and occupied the 6th position in terms of trophy won with a total of 17 trophies which includes 5 League trophy, 5 FA Cups and 6 League Cups which they just acquired many of the trophies recently. Manchester United has now fall in the pecking order and if care is not talking, the club may find it very hard to rule the league again.
The problem started since Alex Ferguson retired as the club manager and the search for who will succeeded him at the club as always be the talking point because the man who he personally identify to be his successor failed at the club and many managers has come in and out of the club until recently when the club secured the services of Ole Solskjær.
Now with the look of things now at the club despite spending some money in the summer transfer window looks like the club are still far from where they are going to. Although they started the season campaign well by defeating Chelsea but their next 3 matches in the league is nothing to write about compared to Liverppool and Manchester City and if corrections is not made on time, clubs like Everton and Tottenham may still end up finishing ahead of them this season.
