The young ex-Sporting de Braga is generating great expectations in Spain. According to the newspaper “Sport”, Barcelona have declined an offer from an English club because they believe in the player's potential

Without having played a game for Barcelona, the young Portuguese Trincão was close to becoming one of the best deals in the recent history of the Catalan club, says the Spanish sports daily “Sport”. Unsurprisingly, with Jorge Mendes behind him, an offer from an English club arrived at Nou Camp that offered 60 million euros to take the former Sporting de Braga.

According to the Catalonia-based newspaper, Trincão is one of the signings where fans have the most hopes for the new season. Barcelona paid 31 million euros for him to Sporting de Braga and selling it twice would mean an unexpected profit, but the Catalan club declined the offer.

“Sport” says that Trincão is “one of the fundamental pieces in the process of rejuvenating the squad”. The player is 20 years old and has a projection that leads club officials to put the sporting aspect ahead of the financial aspect. The young Portuguese contract, for five years, is well shielded, with a clause of 500 million euros.

In the operation that took Trincão to Barcelona, Sporting de Braga assumed the payment of commissions from Jorge Mendes as intermediary of the operation, more specifically 1.5 million euros fixed and 5.5 in variables, depending on the player's income. It was the biggest sale in the history of Braga.
