A striker who is supposed to be tucking football into the back of the opponent net ended up preventing one from going in, a tale of former EPL and Stoke striker Choupo-Moting, making a mess of a simple tap in or should I say guide in, and now will have a really moanful day to forget.
Paris Saint-German was hoping to seal the Ligue 1 with 8 games to spare with a win over mid-table side Strasbourg at the Parc Des Prince, Paris on Sunday evening, but their early party will have to be delayed for a while in a rather unfortunate fashion, thanks to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting moment of confusion, that caused the team 2 points.
The Parisians had not dropped a point at home this season and were a sure bet to brush aside Strasbourg at home to successfully defend their Ligue 1 title, their 6th title in 7 years and their 8th title overall. However, they had to claw back from the jaws of defeat to earn a point, having recovered from 1-2 goals down.
PSG rested their young prodigy Kylian Mbappe and thus, the Cameroonian, Choupo-Moting was called upon to start in attack alongside another young French star, Christopher Nkunku. It was not long before Choupo-Moting took centre stage with a goal in the 13th mins, after linking up with right winger Colin Dagba's square pass, but good interplay at the far left side of the pitch by Strasbourg opened up PSG's defence for Nuno da Costa Jola to side-footed past Buffon in PSG's goal for an equaliser. Just a minutes after Strasbourg equalizer, came a shocking moment for Choupo-Moting who denied PSG from going into the lead, Nkunku was played in on goal and the forward chipped, goal-bound over onrushing Strasbourg goalkeeper, Matz Sels, Choupo-Moting in an attempt to steal and claimed the goal awfully stopped the ball from going into the net, unbelievable scene at the Parc de Prince Stadium as the Cameroonians looked to the heavens for some respite. Rubbing salt on Choupo-Moting and PSG's injury was Anthony Goncalves who's 38th-minute long-range screamer left Gigi Buffon flat-footed to put Strasbourg in a half-time lead.
Respite finally came for Choupo-Moting in the 82nd minutes, when 2 substitutes combined to rescue a point for PSG, Julian Draxler's corner kick was nodded home by Thilo Kehrer to end the match 2 all.

PSG will still win the 2018-19 Ligue 1, it is just a matter of time, however, the party could have started in earnest, but Choupo-Moting over-zealous ness ensured that the party is put on a hold for a week or two.
What was Choupo-Moting thinking? trying to stick a foot and claim Nkunku's goal? or was it just an unfortunate touch on the ball? or was it confusion? like a friend pointed out, it is hard to tell. Whatever it is, his name will go down memory lane alongside Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Christian Benteke and many more amongst football's greatest miss of all time.
So for Choupo-Moting moment of confusion, I quote this;
Someday, everything will make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason - unknown
If Choupo-Moting was to be a defender, then that would have been some clearance off the line. Maybe he should try a switch of position, he might turn out to be one good defender, ending my blog on a diss note.
