Barcelona and Real Madrid made their respective La Liga return with comfortable wins at the weekend as the Spanish league returns from her 3 months layoff. Like other sporting events across the globe, the Spanish league went on a cautionary break in March due to the widespread of coronavirus. However, having met with the club's stakeholders, the Spanish FA joined some of their European counterparts such as the German Bundesliga in ensuring that the remaining league fixtures are completed.

Barcelona made a winning return with a comfortable 4-nil win at Mallorca. Arturo Vidal(2') opened the goal floodgate in the early minutes of kickoff with a headed goal, Martin Braithwaite(37'), Jordi Alba(79') and Lionel Messi(90'+3') completed the rout. The win temporary opened a 5-point gap over rival Real Madrid who had a later fixture.

Real Madrid quashed any scare of a slip off with a 3-1 win over visiting Eibar. Goals from Toni Kroos(4'), Sergio Ramos(30') and Marcelo(37') earned the Galactico the needed points to cut Barca's lead back to 2 points on the league table. Pedro Bigas(60') got Eibar's consolation goal. Real, now on 59 points, trails Barca on 61 points, with 10 games to go.

More relieving for both Barca and Real is the return of some of their respective influential players, while Barca was able to bring on the likes of Luis Suarez and Arthur, Real were able to include Eden Hazard in their starting lineup.

A diehard Messi fan managed to evade security and onto the pitch, seeking a selfie with his idol, bad move lad.

La Liga, like its counterparts across the globe, will be operating under strict protocol to prevent any spread of coronavirus. However, can hugging and contact be avoided during goal celebration? I don't think so.

Thank you for your time and support.
