The arrival of Frank Lampard as a Chelsea coach saw a lot of players being relegated to the bench. Players who were part of Contè phenomenal season at Chelsea were relegated to bench and Marcos Alonso was one of them.

Frank Lampard preference of Ben Chilwell over Alonso did go to well among some fans even though Ben chillwell was good. They miss the goal scoring Marcos Alonso during the Contè era. The lack of playing time saw the left back coming close to leaving the club in 2020 summer transfer but one thing or the other stopped the move.

The arrival of Thomas Tuchel has turned things around for the player as he has been part of the starting Lineup since the German coach arrived. Alonso's fathers in an interview shared his opinion on his son's return to the starting lineup. This is what he said;

Marcos Alonso's father: "Thanks to his effort, he has trained and he has not stopped, he has been able to do well and the coach can count on him."
Marcos Alonso's father: "They are things that happen [enduring difficulties], you learn everything. And with Lampard on the bench surely my son has learned a lesson and knows that this is over and does not last for life." [@OndaCero_es via @Sport_Witness].
