Going into this match, Norwich would have wanted full 3 points to remain seated at the top of the league table. But, after the final whistle they should feel proud that they managed to snatch a point from a match away from home against a quality West Brom side. I am fine with a point as West Brom are not that far from the top. Dropping full 3 points would have been more worry.
A precious solitary point from the match could not save us from dropping down to the third position. Sheffield Utd made its way into the second position with Leeds seating comfortably on top with four points lead.
West Brom took a lead in the first 15 minute with a fine strike from Dwight Gayle. Even Though the West Brom side scored, the game was evenly poised. The first half was not up to the mark for the canaries. I was hoping that they should hold in the midfield more and go forward as a superior team. BUt, it was West Brom who was playing convincingly. Norwich lack the movement in the middle.
In the second half, Norwich played relatively fast and created more chances. West Brom wanted to seal the game with the second goal but they just could not score one. It was a genius move from Danier Farke when he made two substitutions in the last 10 minutes of the game. Rhodes came in at 80 and McLean was sub’d at 81 and they both were involved in the late Norwich equalizer.
Norwich are always know to have good attack with late goal scoring ability. But as a fan, i never want to wait unit i have my heart attack to see them score an equalizer. With that late Rhodes’ goal we manage to save a point. Farke is a clever customer. He is doing a good job with the team.
West Brom is a quality side and in their home turf we could manage a point. It’s a consolation for me. With this match, West Brom are 3 points behind Norwich and at the fourth place.
Sheffield United beat QPR to go ahead of Norwich at the second place with equal points but superior goal difference. Leeds are on top with a win over Derby, who are at sixth place. Middlesbrough's won against Birmingham City means they are at 5th place with four points behind Norwich.
Championship games are not easy and those top six positions in the table can change any time. It has been a tough couple of games for us as we lost one and drew three of our last four games. With the goal scoring ability we have, it is safe to say that we will be ok for our next game against Birmingham City. Another top table fight. Hoping for the best.
