From time to time, we have privilege to witness or watch how miracle happens in front of our eyes. From time to time, small one knock out the big one and from time to time heart and will plays the key role instead of money and greed.

The gap between teams are increasing every day so it becomes harder to beat some top team today as it was 50 years ago. How is possible for that to happen, I don’t know, if we compare budgets, players, league and history, but I’m glad that still happens anyway. That’s football all about. The joy, the thrill, just pure emotion, from view of a single fan and football lover. I agree that football as sports in general need to evolve and progress, but unfortunately, money is the main wheel and not all have it. But sometimes, this glitch happens and money doesn’t mean anything. That is just eleven mans from flash and blood on the other side, not machines. They also get tired, they also make mistakes. If you keep that in mind and show no mercy and respect, after 90 minutes you will become part of history.

Newcastle vs Partizan (0:1)

This was in 2003/04. It was the final round of Champions League qualifications and before today's “Champions Path” it was very hard to become the part of elite. Partizan loss first match in Belgrade with 0:1. In England they managed to beat Newcastle with the same result. I remember that Shearer had some great goal scoring chances. Anyway they hold to the penalties where they were better than English team. Partizan become first Serbian club to play in Champion League and since than Newcastle can’t recover the old glory before those days.

Celta vs Juventus (4:0)

This was the symbolic end of Juventus champions team from the 90's. It was 2000/01 season and in UEFA cup, Celta was hosting Juventus after losing 1:0 in Italy. After 27 seconds of game, Makelele equalized the score. When it was 2:0, Montero had total black out and he punched with elbow opponent player. He immediately get red card. This was the disaster that even Carlo Ancelotti could’t stop.

Real Madrid vs Odense (0:2)

Well, if this happened these days, Real Madrid players would be just players, but not in Real Madrid anymore. We can compare this victory with Eibar’s victory few days ago. But this one was even bigger. Laudrup bring the win to Real Madrid in Denmark in 1994/95 UEFA cup but in Madrid was totally different game. In rematch Odense goalkeeper saved every shoot going towards the goal and their strikers with two shoots silented Bernabeu as Odense was victorious at the end.

Helsingborg vs Inter (1:0)

After 2010 WC in S.Africa this was the Marcello Lippi biggest defeat in his managers career. He was welcomed as a savior but banished through the fire fire stairs. Swedes have celebrated at home with 1:0 by scoring nine minutes before end. The rematch in Italy was anticipated and how Inter will score at least 4 or 5 on Meazza. It was ended with goalless draw and Recoba missed penalty in 90th minute. It was Champions League season 2000/01 and we all know what a team Inter had those days.

Viking vs Chelsea (4:2)

If you want to kick out the favorite and become European wonder? Well, no problem, all you need to do is to pull out Chelsea with Ranieri on the bench. After losing from outsiders and get knock out from Europe two times already, Viking make sure that it will be third time also. It was season 2003/04 and in UEFA Cup, history was made by club from Norway by beating Chelsea with 4:2.

Deportivo La Coruna vs Milan (4:0)

Champions League season 2003/04. Lot of things happen that season and one of them is Deportivo. After 4:1 from first leg in Italy, Milan comes to rematch pretty relaxed, convicted that they had done their job. And they were right. They done their job and watched the rest of Champions League on TV because losing the with 4:0. Pandiani, Valeron, Luque and Fran took care of that.

Alkorkon vs Real Madrid (4:0)

Cup of the King and 2009/10 season. Nine international players was in the Real Madrid squad that day including Benzema, Van der Vaart, Raul etc…Team from third league with 400 times less budget needed only 60 minutes to put 4 behind Dudek. In rematch Madrid win only with 1:0 which was not enough for royal club to go through.

Crvena Zvezda vs Liverpool (2:0)

Most recent win in this article. Few weeks ago, the former European Champions and debutant in UCL manage to beat mighty vice-champions Liverpool in front of 55k people with 2:0. After 4:0 in first leg for the Reds, it seems that only question was how many will Zvezda concede. But Klopp and friend stayed surprised at the end for what they thought it was going to be easy win. 20 times expensive Liverpool on the market didn’t manage to score even one goal as Zvezda shine again and write another great win.

Hope you like it, this is just the first edition of David vs Goliath series. Thanks for supporting and for any suggestions or remark, please don’t hesitate to put a comment.

Cheers,
