What makes a derby a derby, is a great love for your club and hatred for the greatest rival, are the two most important reasons why the derby is special. In order for a football derby to be big, it is necessary to have an equal reputation for two clubs, a similar number of fans, an uncertain race in all competitions and naturally different colors of the club.
Football is itself a pure emotion, but there is a period when what we feel about the twenty-two men chasing the ball, can not be measured or compared with anything.
The mentioned period can often vary with intensity and length, from several days to several weeks but it is still easy to determine that the epicenter of "madness" stays somewhere between 90 and 120 minutes, excluding a potential penal series. Then everything that really matters and essentially becomes absolutely irrelevant, and your thoughts and all the types of energy you give are focused on just one thing. That your beloved team records victory over the biggest, eternal rival.
What is morally, becomes immoral - then the way and means are not chosen in order to reach the goal. Then it is only important that your team, after the last referee whistle, raise your arms above your head, while you are thrown in the trance and rejoice with the people you have seen for the first time in your life. The game that has the power to divide cities into half, the eternal rivalries that turn the brothers and great friends into the hot rivals, but at the same time they provide us with unique experience and luck, as well as valuable, unforgettable memories.
We only have few of these kind of games in the world, so I bring you next two for this second edition of Greatest Football Derbies in the World series :

Olympiacos - Panathinaikos
Derby of eternal enemies, the two most refined teams with the most ardent fans in Athens, is a true football classic. Panathinaikos was founded in 1908 by a high class and an ancient Athenian society. Olympiacos was founded 17 years later in Piraeus by the working class. Different classes of the clubs gave these fans even greater intolerance.
Their clashes are known at all sporting events, so the murder of fans took place at a women's volleyball club match, when Olympiacos fans stab to death the 22-year-old Panathinaikos fans.
Hatred between these two clubs exists among fans, owners, coaches, players, have become allergic to the colors of the rival club.
Olympiacos is a successful team for football, they have 80 wins in each other's matches, they played unresolved in 66 matches, while Panathinaikos won 49 matches. Olympiacos, as the most profitable club in Greece, won 44 titles of the Supercup of Greece and 27 trophies of the Greek Cup, while Panathinaikos won 20 titles of the Greek Superliga and 18 trophies of the Greek Cup.
Interestingly, the fans of both clubs in their names have the same word with a different number. Fans of Olympiacos (Gate 7) and Panathinaikos (Gate 13).
Red Star Belgrade - Partizan Belgrade
The only thing so far worthwhile in Serbian football and what is worth the attention when Serbian football is about is the eternal derby. Then everyone is waking up, then people who have lost interest in Serbian football, will be eagerly awaited meeting these two teams. Usually, these are trophies which are the only two Serbian clubs with significant support from fans from all over the country.
The presence of this game is much higher than the rest of the league. The rivalry of "Delije" and "Grobari" often exceeds the boundaries of the normal, so frequent conflicts both in the stadium and outside are inevitable. Transferring the player to the rival club is even more fueling the intolerance of the fans, the case with goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic showed it, as did the crossing of Brazilian Kleo.
When the mutual duels in question, Red Star leads with 107 matches, while Partizan has 78 wins, they played 59 times. When winning the championship is in stake, Red Star have one title more than Partizan who have 27, while Red Star also leads by the number of Cups won by Serbia with 24 trophies, while Partizan has 10 less. Another advantage of the Red Star and what club fans serves as a comparison of the size, is their club has been won by the Cup of European Champions, today's Champions League.
There will always be an indefinite question about who has a greater number of fans, since in the country of Serbia, you are a fan of Partizan or for the Red Star, the question will always remain mysterious.
