A representative from the German club is in Barcelona right now trying to conclude negotiations with both Barça and Alcacer

Borussia Dortmind have taken a step forward in their pursuit of Paco Alcacer. As revealed by 'RAC1', a representative of the German club landed in Barcelona last night with the task of convincing the player about their project as well as finalising the negotiations with Barça.

The Torrent-born striker was close to joining Real Betis on Monday. It was an option he particularly liked as he wanted to remain in the LaLiga Santander. He thought that working under Quique Setien could reignite the spark in him after two anonymous seasons at the Camp Nou.

The negotiations with Betis took a turn for the worse following their 3-0 defeat to Levante. Setien decided that he needed to strengthen his defence, rather than attack, and as such withdrew his offer for Alcacer.

It was at this moment that Dortmund decided to speed up talks with Barcelona and add to their desperately lacking forward line. Lucien Favre, who missed out on Michy Batshuayi to Valencia, continues to search for more firepower after losing Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal last January.

Alcacer has more offers to choose from but if he gives the thumbs up to a move to the Bundesliga, the deal could be concluded very soon. Dortmund would pay his full wages during the season-long loan.
