Newly promoted Premier League side, Fulham FC have signed 23-year old Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in a £22 million deal from Newcastle United ahead of the new 2018/2019 Premier league season.

The young Serbian striker signed for Newcastle United in 2015 after leaving Belgian side Anderlecht for the English top-flight league for £14.5m. However, he struggled to cement a starting place in Newcastle side.

From 2015 when Mitrovic joined the team, he played under Newcastle managers like Alan Pardew, John Carver, Steve McLaren and current Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez, but was never really seen as the man for the job.

Mitrovic was loaned to Slavisa Jokanovic's Fulham last season where he excelled by scoring 12 goals in 17 games – a feat which helped Fulham secure promotion back to the top flight of English club football through the play-offs in the Championship.

Having gained promotion back to the Premier league, Fulham have decided to show faith in Aleksandar Mitrovic by offering the 23-year old a five-year contract until 2023, which the Serbian striker has agreed upon.

Quoting Mitrovic, "I'm happy to the moon and back. I'm very glad and happy and proud to finally be here and officially become a Fulham player. I have love for the fans. They're amazing fans and I have a really good connection with them. This is a big club and last year we made history. We want to keep making big things - and with all the fans behind us I think we can go far."

On the other hand, Newcastle United who only played Mitrovic 5 times in the first-half of last season before loaning him out to Fulham, have agreed a deal for Aleksandar Mitrovic’s replacement, in the person of Japanese striker, Yoshinori Muto who plays for Mainz in the German Bundesliga.
