FC Porto are set to release ex Newcastle defender & DR Congo international 'Chancel Mbemba' due to doubts in his age. It is said that on paper the defender is listed as being 27 but he could actually be as many as five years older.
According to a report from CNN which revealed that Mbemba had no less than 4 different birthdays recorded, with several dates ranging from 1988 to 1994.
For his first two clubs in his native Country, Mbemba was said to have being born in the year 1988.
However the year of birth had changed to November 30th, 1991 when he represented DR Congo in an AFCON qualifier in 2011.
Anderlecht's records also reveal he was born on the 8th o August 1994, which meant that he about to clock 21 when he had signed for Newcastle in 2015.
To make matters worse, Mbemba was noted to have gone on record to reveal that he was born in the year 1990.
Despite also claiming to have undergone a bone tests to prove that he was really born in the year 1994, before moving to English league.
“I got bone tests done and, as me and my friends know, the results prove what my age is. I just go out & play football, there is no mis-information," Mbemba is quoted as saying by The Mirror.
