Michael Keane will be away for four weeks after suffering a minor fracture of the skull during a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, Premier League club Everton announced on Sunday.

Keane suffered a head injury during a clash with his teammate Idrissa Jay after the two jumped to keep the ball out of the game. The 25-year-old is placed on a respirator on the pitch before being taken to the hospital.

"I'm fine but I have a small fracture of the skull and self-healing, which means I should not be subject to any head-to-head for three to four weeks," Keane told the club's website.

"I'll be back with the team as soon as I can.

"I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the medical staff of Everton, Bournemouth and all the staff at the hospital for their outstanding treatment and care."
