At a conference of the German state and federal government on Tuesday (15/9) it was decided to reopen the doors of the football stadium and allow spectators to fill 20 percent of the stadium's capacity. Meanwhile, for the Premier League Round of German football the Bundesliga will roll back from Friday (18 / 9) coming. This time, the audience was allowed to back their favorite team back from inside the stadium, after a six month absence.
Top club Borussia Dortmund said they would invite 10,000 fans with season tickets to watch their first match against Borussia Mnchengladbach on Saturday (19/9) and are targeting 9200 fans to support the home side against Hoffenheim.
There has been no direct announcement from Bundesliga champions FC Bayern, who will receive FC Schalke in the first Bundesliga match on Friday (18/9). Bayern have conducted trials in their stadium to welcome fans back by maintaining social distancing.
State and federal government conferences agree that stadiums can resume operations at up to 20 percent of normal capacity for a six-week trial period. Similar rules will reportedly apply to other sports that have been without spectators.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic disaster and the loss of revenue from tickets has shaken the finances of German sports clubs. Football clubs can still maintain TV revenues, but some clubs have cut costs and asked players to accept a temporary pay cut.
As for other sports such as basketball or handball, it was more difficult because they did not have TV income such as the popular sports football or tennis.
State and federal governments have generally agreed to allow more mass events with more than 1000 spectators, provided that only 20 percent of the capacity of the building or stadium can be used. The Bundesliga trial phase with stadium spectators also enforces a controlled infection rate requirement. Over the past 7 days, the infection rate per 100,000 population must not exceed 35 cases. Inside the stadium spectators must maintain a safe distance of 1.5 meters, and there is no sale of alcohol.
It is mandatory for all spectators to wear protective masks until they reach their seats. Once in place, the audience may remove the mask. All tickets will contain the spectator's name and cannot be used by others.
