A couple of weeks ago I posted who will be UEFA Player of the year here. Most of you including me thought it will be Juventus new signing and former Real Madrid Super Star Ronaldo. Now, we have the result as UEFA announced the UEFA player of the year award today.
Real Madrid and Croatian star Luka Modric is the new player of the year. He got ahead of ROnanldo and Salah to win 2017-18 UEFA player of the year. Modric had good season in Real Madrid, marching forward from the midfield and winning the Champions League last season. Modric also won the Golden ball for his performance in World Cup and taking Croatia to the final where they lost the the Champions France.
Modric received the award from UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin. The other winner's in UEFA presentation today were as follows:
- Keylor Navas: UEFA Goalkeeper of the season( ahead of Gigi Buffon and Alisson)
- Sergio Ramos: UEFA Defender of the season( ahead of Marcelo and Raphael Varane)
- Modric : UEFA Midfielder of the season( ahead of Kevin De Bruyne and Toni Kroos)
- Ronaldo : UEFA Midfielder of the season( ahead of Lionel Messi and Salah)
It was a clean sweep for Real Madrid in the award ceremony. The UEFA group stage was also determined today. The other attraction of today's ceremony was David Beckham, who received 2018 UEFA President's Award for his contribution inside and outside the field.

Group C looks interesting with PSG, Napoli and Liverpool. Also, Group B is the other one to look out for.
