FIFA Council, which is being held in Kigali (Rwanda), has spoken against holding a regular La Liga match between Girona and Barcelona is the United States.

Last year, La Liga signed a 15-year-old contract with the American corporation Relevent, which implied an annual staging of one or several league matches overseas.

This season, Girona and Barcelona have agreed to play a game on 26 January in Miami, but many people both in Spain or abroad strictly oppose the idea.

And now FIFA has joined the protesters choir, as the football's governing body thinks that all games of any national competition should be held within the country's borders.

"As FIFA president, I announce that the organisation is against La Liga's idea and will forbid Girona-Barca to be held in the United States or any other country that isn't Spain," Infantino said at a news conference in Kigali.
