Barcelona were seen as the main contenders for the 21-year-old Ajax defender Frenkie de Jong, but now the Spanish giants got a strong rival.

Manchester City are reported to bid 80 million euro for the young Dutchman. However, they would like to sign the player already in January, while Ajax want to keep De Jong until the end of the season.

The defender, whose contract runs until 2022, is actually not in a hurry: "For now, I just stay ay Ajax. At least for one year, and then, who knows, maybe for two or three years. I just like it very much here."
