The Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano may return to River Plate, the club where he played in the early days of his career.

Now the 34-year-old plays for Hebei China Fortune, but River Plate's coach Enzo Francescoli apparently has an interest in bringing the veteran back home in winter.

A graduate of River Plate academy, Mascherano started his professional career at the Buenos Aires club before moving to Brazil's Corinthians back in 2005.

Later he relocated to Europe and played for West Ham, Liverpool and Barcelona before settling in China this summer.
