Werder Bremen lost 2-6 to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga Matchday 9, but, as they say, every cloud has a silver lining.
Claudio Pizarro, who scored one of Bremen's goals, became just the second footballer in Bundesliga history to score at the age of 40.
To be more precise, the Peruvian found the net aged 40 years and 25 days.
Before that, the only player to score in Bundesliga at the age of 40 was Mirko Votava, who actually also played for Werder. He scored his last goal for Bremen in August 1996, aged 40 years 3 months 30 days.
