This game further proves that they need a striker, Giroud should have started with Hazard Left wing and Callum Right wing. Chelsea goals in last 7 matches(all comps): 1,1,2,1,0,2,0 for a team wanting to win stuff this isn’t good enough. They need a striker as soon as possible. Hazard is a world-class winger so play him there.They should’ve started with Giroud cause no one was in the box. Jorginho was good, controls the pace of the game, you won’t see his quality in goals or assists but without him, Sarriball doesn’t work. I feel so bad for Hazard. All on his own again but tonight Odoi matched Hazard with proper passes. Let’s be honest, if David Luiz was on for Christensen, it’s 1-1. How Christensen missed that chance is beyond me.
Chelsea has failed to take leverage of Tottenham's little performance in the game. Why are they always playing a boring, match to be fair though they played well they just can't find the back of the net? That's what Chelsea have been struggling with so far. They should sign a decent striker so they can rely on him till the end of the season they must do some business that's why hazard is always marked out of the game they need at least two decent strikers to take the burdens of Hazard bringing Icardi otherwise they will suffer.
Pedro for Willian was a useless sub, should’ve brought Giroud on for Willian earlier, needed a focal point in the box. Love that Kante is the most potent attacking threat aside from Hazard that has been showing up lately. Barkley is always playing it way too safe is obviously gone low on confidence lately. RLC was their best goal threat out of the midfield and it’s unfortunate his back is constantly giving him problems. I love Alonso but as a pure LB he’s just way too slow.
Hazard is brilliant but as you can see, he drops back into deep midfield or on the wing to fetch the ball and create something, but Jorginho, Barkley, and Willian is either next to him or a bit further up. Barkley was so slow with his movements and sluggish passes. He takes no risks and moving forward or at least play the ball always backward and sideways, carries the ball he has the great passing ability so why not use it. Hudson proved he is brilliant and can replace Willian with hazard on the left with Giroud upfront. Hazard cannot do everything on his own, the guy needs a striker to hold the ball and lay it back off. They showed a great attitude but no provider upfront.
Kante was amazing along with Odoi( who has to start their next game no doubt) Hazard clearly doesn't like playing in the false 9 or whatever and they need a new striker. I think the problem with their false 9 formations is the fact that Hazard is not a striker. He drops quite far back and starts off their moves a lot, so they are left with no striker in the box. Can we all appreciate how good Kante was yesterday absolutely class he can do anything his passes his dribbling blew my mind and he won most of his headers despite his height and he created so much and I know people say he's overrated but I thought he was class yesterday?
What Jorginho is meant for is to link the defense to offense, direct the team into the correct positions. He is constantly motioning their players around. He is meant to never misplace a pass, to dominate the passing, complete more than anyone else. Jorginho has records for most completed passes in games, etc. Last year with Napoli he only had 4 assists. He isn’t meant to assist. He is “Sarriball” without him they don’t have the offense. Fabregas has tried to play his role multiple times and while he has much better final third play, he can’t make the team around him play the system Sarri wants to run.
