Three points and a clean sheet a great day for Liverpool fans. Back on track, it was needed, congrats to the team. A massive result that after losing to City and Wolves, they are getting some confidence back against tough opponents. Thought Fabinho was great today, especially not his natural position. Not the best performance for Liverpool but the big result for them. Perhaps the Wolves defeat was a blessing in disguise. Hoping they can bring their Confidence from their victory to Manchester and take some points from them. A lot of players played well.
TAA playing with painkillers. Robertson solid as always. Van Dijk mountain of a player, Salah the winner, Firmino and Wijnaldum with their tireless efforts. Bottom teams are always harder to beat as they fight for survival 3 points and the clean sheet. Got to say Fabinho for him not playing at the start of the season to coming straight into the squad and now playing center back I'm impressed. Fabinho for me was just superb. Not the greatest match for the whole team, but a win is a win so they’ll take the 3 points and become 7 points clear of City for now. Brighton did a really good job defending. That was tough to break. And I also think Origi could have had at least 15 minutes to run up front. Brighton isn’t as bad as they may seem. I’m really glad they’ve got through them.
Liverpool keeps playing high balls to mane and salah who is pretty short compared to Brighton defenders. Their attack is packed in the middle instead of playing wide to open their defense. Lack of intensity. Every time Liverpool counter they keep passing back and sides. Horrific display in the first half. Too little effort and way to slow play. Salah dropping in midfield is clear enough they are lacking an attacking midfielder. He made a huge impact dropping deep and creating attacks from there. Just my two cents thoughts. Massive win though.
Other than that, Firmino was actually very good today, VVD world class as always, Fabinho proving he can play CB in situations like today, Robbie always class, but forwards and midfield wasn’t clicking today, the movement wasn’t really there and that was the reason. Salah is a striker, and he might not be as good as last season but he is still fighting for the golden boot, they are top of the league and he scored the winning goal today. And Firmino does a specific job and at CAM which is hold up play to allow the wingers or other players in behind. He will get back to the goals and assists soon.
