Following the dramatics of the Champions League quarter finals, we're now left with just 4 teams as we head to the semis. Barcelona, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Ajax will be fighting for the right to be crowned as European champions this season, much to the dismay of all 12 of Manchester City's supporters.

All jokes aside, we have some very interesting match-ups here and all 4 teams will feel that they have a chance to make history. Taking emotions and gut feelings out of the equation, we can run through a few odds to calculate the chances of each team progressing to the final and to win the Champions League in June.

Barcelona

Barcelona are the competition's current favourites having knocked out Manchester United in style in the quarter finals. They now face Liverpool in the semi final and will be cautious of underestimating Klopp's team, who were last season's runners up in the competition.

Odds to progress to the final: 1.70

Implied probability: 58.8%

Although up against tough opposition in Liverpool, Barcelona can be backed to progress to the next stage of the competition at odds of 1.70. These odds give an implied probability of 58.8% meaning that if this fixture was played out 10 times, at these odds, Barcelona would be expected to knock Liverpool out roughly 6 times.

Odds to win the Champions League: 2.70

Implied probability: 37.0%

Barcelona have been priced at 2.70 to win the competition outright. Of course, these odds could change depending on who they would face in the final if they were to progress themselves, but this makes them heavy favourites. The odds suggest that if the remaining stages of the competition were played through 10 times, Barcelona would go on to win outright almost 4 times.

Liverpool

Being drawn to play against Barcelona is always a tough thing to swallow but Liverpool will be confident that they have what it takes to get a result over two legs. Nevertheless, the high level of competition means that Liverpool's odds of reaching the final are longer than the rest of the teams still in the mix.

Odds to progress to the final: 2.26

Implied probability: 44.2%

With an implied probability of reaching the Champions League final at 44.2%, Liverpool would be expected to knock Barcelona out at this stage in around 4 out of 10 attempts. That's a decent chance but it does show how highly Barcelona are favoured in the back odds.

Odds to win the Champions League: 3.50

Implied probability: 28.6%

Although the odds suggest that Liverpool are the least likely of all 4 remaining teams to make it to the final, they are still 2nd favourites to win the competition outright. The reason for this is that they would be heavy favourites to win against either Tottenham or Ajax in the final if they are able to knock Barcelona out in the next round.

Tottenham

Tottenham have been on an emotional rollercoaster throughout the quarter finals and knocked out one of the competition's favourites in Manchester City. This has given them a favourable draw against Ajax in the semi final, but Tottenham will be wary that Ajax have already taken out Real Madrid and Juventus in previous rounds.

Odds to progress to the final: 1.96

Implied probability: 51%

Tottenham are marginal favourites to progress to the final of the Champions League this season with an implied probability of 51%. There's not much in it, however, and if sticking to the tournament being played out 10 times, this team would be expected to knock Ajax out roughly 5 times.

Odds to win the Champions League: 5.30

Implied probability: 18.9%

Tottenham's odds of winning the Champions League outright this season currently sit at 18.9%. This means they'd be expected to lift the trophy in around 2 of 10 attempts. Although this may seem a little low, Tottenham would have to face either Barcelona or Liverpool if they progress to the final and this makes them current outsiders.

Ajax

Most likely the neutral's favourite this season, Ajax stunned the world by knocking out both Real Madrid and Juventus to progress to the semi final. On paper, Tottenham is the most favourable draw they could get next but they will know that they'll need to be at their best to get past the English team to the final.

Odds to progress to the final: 2.00

Implied probability: 50%

Slightly out of whack, Ajax can be backed with odds up to 2.00 to progress to the final of this season's Champions League although these numbers are shortening and lengthening in relatively quick intervals at the moment. This means that in 10 attempts, Ajax would be expected to knock Tottenham out of the competition 5 times.

Odds to win the Champions League: 6.00

Implied probability: 16.7%

Although weighted favourably to progress to the next round, Ajax are currently valued as the least likely team to win the competition outright. Although they may be able to get past Tottenham, they are seen as the outsiders because they'd have to face off against an experienced team in the final in the form of either Barcelona or Liverpool.
