After the experiment made during the Club World Championship and the World Cup , UEFA is also ready to embrace the new rule.

We have already seen it during these World Championship, but now the UEFA is also aligned with FIFA for the introduction of the fourth replacement. Therefore from next season, we will see the possibility of a further change in the matches of Champions and Europa League, European Super Cup, but also for the women's Champions, the women's European 2021 and the men's European 2020. From the knock-out stage on, it will be possible to have a fourth replacement during extra time, a measure that has become necessary after the teams' calendars have become increasingly overloaded.

So the new rule, proposed by president Infantino was accepted and was immediately adopted by the coaches of the teams involved in the World Cup. Aleksandr Erokhin of Russia was the first fourth replacement in the history of a World Championship, which took over the role of Daler Kuzyaev during Russia-Spain, won by the home team. The experiment had already been tried in the last World Championship for Club in 2016 when Alvaro Morata took over the role of Cristiano Ronaldo in the final against Kashima Antlers.

Is this new rule something good or something bad?

In my personal opinion, this rule is something that was needed, because after 90+ minutes most of the players of a team are really tired, and if let's say that you already made 3 substitutions and one of your players injures himself, you can not change him.

Many times a coach is forced to make some changes, and with only 3 changes, in 120 minutes is kinda hard to choose. Instead, when you can make a fourth substitution after the 90 minutes, you can better organize your team and maybe easily guide them to the win!

Let me know what you guys think about it, and share your thoughts on the subject on this post!
