The defender Benjamin Pavard, who won the World Cup with France last week, has agreed to move to Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old Stuttgart defender will probably join the German champions already this summer, or at least in the summer of 2019.

Two years ago, Pavard moved from Lille, where he was given too little playing time, to Stuttgart, who had just been relegated from the Bundesliga.

During his first season in Germany, the Frenchman became a regular starter at Stuttgart and helped the team to return to the elite.

His progress continued later, as he was called up to the France national team for the first time last autumn.

Many people, however, were surprised when Didier Deschamps included Pavard into his 23-man squad for the World Cup - and especially when the young defender became a regular starter in Russia.

However, Benjamin did well, and became one of the tournament's revelations. Some big clubs like PSG or Tottenham lined up for the player, but now it looks like he is moving to Munich.
