France national team are making preparations for their second World Cup game against Peru, which will be played on Thursday. Meanwhile, two players of Les Bleus extended their contracts with Atletico Madrid, signing new deals at the national team’s base in Russia.

The 26-year-old forward Antoine Griezmann, who has been heavily linked with the possible move to Barcelona in the recent weeks, announced on Monday that he would stay at Atletico. His contract with the Spanish club was valid until 2022, but now he signed a new one until 2023.

Similar to Griezmann, defender Lucas Hernandez had a contract until 2022, but the club wanted to bind him for an even longer team. So Hernandez has now also signed a new deal until 2024.

The French diaspora in Madrid will only grow next season, as Atletico have reached an agreement with Thomas Lemar. The 22-year-old midfielder, who is at the moment also with the national team in Russia, will move from Monaco, and the Spanish club will pay 60 milion euro for his transfer.
